Back in Helsinki

Here I am, back in Finland.
The American week was very busy and really nice.
The Embedded Systems Conference was especially interesting: I had the opportunity to see what is the state of the art in the embedded devices world, and I could meet many people.
The instructor of the Linux classes was Bill Gatliff, a freelance consultant who showed great competencies (both technical and didactic) and a very strong opinion about Free Software.
I was happy to see the growing ferment around linux based devices; 770 is a forerunner in this, being one of the first consumer devices of this kind.
This means that what I’ve been doing for two years was, and is still, innovative.

After the conference I spent a couple of days as a tourist in the USA, and it was a unique experience.

Eccomi di nuovo in Finlandia.
La settimana americana è stata intensa e molto bella.
L’Embedded Systems Conference è stata particolarmente interessante: ho avuto la possibilità di rendermi conto dello stato dell’arte nell’ambito dei dispositivi elettronici portatili, e di vedere molte persone.
L’insegnante di tutti i corsi riguardanti Linux era un certo Bill Gatliff, che ha dimostrato grandi competenze (sia tecniche che didattiche) ed ha mostrato un’interessante e chiara opinione riguardo il software libero.
E’ stato anche bello vedere che c’è un certo fermento attorno ai dispositivi portatili basati su Linux, e il 770 è in questo un precursore, essendo uno dei primi dispositivi per consumer di questo tipo.
Questo vuol dire che il lavoro che sto facendo da due anni è stato, ed è ancora, innovativo.
Dopo la conferenza ho passato un paio di giorni da turista negli USA, ed è stata un’esperienza unica.
